Started in 2012, Two Roads Brewery is the work of four friends who decided to get their love of beer going for real. Two Road’s Brew Master, Phil Markowski, has created a wide lineup of beers in various styles. Their name comes from the Frost poem, and they prefer the road not taken. In the spirit of the unique, Two Roads joined forces with Evil Twin brewing during a recent road trip to Iceland. Picking local hops and malt materials, they produced a beer together, to explore the flavours and character of different lands, but also to see what they can achieve as more than one brewing mind. The Geyser Gose follows the pattern of the classic Gose style, but takes a few entertaining liberties. Classic sour and tart beer, with a hint of smokiness, some citrus kick, and a snappy finish. Serves well at 8°C and you might as well crack it open as soon as possible.
Pours an incredibly pale yellow, almost colourless, with a mostly clear body and low carbonation.
The aroma of this beer is precisely what you’d expect of the Gose - sour and sizzling up your nose, with a touch of lemon zest, some muddled spices, and herbal hops for a nice finish.
Quite sour, it will get your lips smacking right away. But you’ll also taste some lemon-lime, a touch of spices that will have you thinking of sage and clove, and some green leafiness. The herbal hop profile is way in the background and a little tough to catch, but you’ll pick up a gentle presence of herbal and earthy character. A smooth taste experience that fades off with a slightly sour taste to a clean finish.
The perfect candidate for a well provisioned charcuterie board.
