Introduction

Please note that the Banded Peak brew is canned and shipped to you within days. Because we want you to enjoy optimal freshness, we will be stocking this beer in the store in small amounts, and replenishing frequently. Please check back often for availability. Relatively recent changes to the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) laws has created a surge of new craft breweries in the province. It has become a very interesting scene to follow as new breweries seem to be announced weekly. Banded Peak Brewing was formed in the first wave of this surge when three childhood friends, with over 16,000 days of friendship between them, decided to quit their jobs and follow their passion. The three started their business in Calgary with the desire to build a brewery that brought together the city's huge outdoor community and its growing craft beer scene. It is a brewery that was crafted for adventure. Plainsbreaker has been dry hopped with ten kilos of Citra and Amarillo. It is a hoppy beer packaged in a crowler, so it is best enjoyed ultra-fresh – not left to enjoy later. This beer was packaged mere days before landing on your doorstep so please chill, crack and enjoy ASAP

How it looks

Pours a hazy gold colour with a fluffy white head, with nice retention.

How it smells

Grapefruit and tropical fruits come through strong on the nose with some pine and mild floral aromas.

How it tastes

A bright hop profile with juicy grapefruit and big tropical fruit leads the charge on the palate with some very light, piney hop bitterness coming through. A medium-bodied beer that finishes crisp with moderate hop bitterness. Big punches of tropical fruit with a hint of wheat used to fill out the body on this brew make this a great alternative to an ISA.

Recommended food pairing

The guys at the brewery told us to pair their beer up with tacos. Being huge taco fans ourselves, we are passing along that recommendation tenfold! The tropical fruit notes pair really well with braised meat and the hops cut through any spice. Eat all the tacos!
