Description
Small Gods is located in the picturesque seaside town of Sidney, just 30 kilometers from Victoria on Vancouver Island. The brewery was founded by Chris Bjerrisgaard who is well known from his days at Parallel 49 and Vancouver Island Brewing. It’s a bit peculiar; this brewery is literary-themed which celebrates Sidney’s thriving bookstore culture (it has the most bookstores per capita in the country and is dubbed, “Canada’s Book Town”). They take literary inspiration from the world of literature and host monthly book events including author readings, and literary trivia nights, as well as host a book club. In fact, the names they give their brews are from famous stories that we all know and love. The taproom is family-friendly and has an outstanding artisan sandwich deli located inside. Their diversity is key within the brewery as well: they have a style that will suit every palate, and carry a range of non-beer beverages to host every palate. Their core purpose is to create a safe, sustainable, and inclusive community where people thrive through food, drink, and literature. Along with head brewer Jonny Kostiuk, Small Gods builds their own beer family through collaborations with an array of breweries across the province, such as Field House, Slackwater, Twin Sails, House of Funk, and Whistle Buoy.
