The aroma of this beer is almost totally dominated by the black cherry infusion. You can pick up a touch of the malt providing a base but not much else.

Up front you’ll taste a strong combination of tart and sour black cherry with an edge of citrus zest. The tartness ratchets down and lets the flesh of the blood orange show itself, along with some dynamism in the malt. It balances out the fruit and carries the flavour through the taste. The body is slightly astringent and acidic, finishing up a touch dry and leaving the cherries on the palate.

Take out the cheeseboard and pile it high while tasting this beer.

Pours a deep red colour close to amber with a hazy body and medium carbonation. A thin head of cherry tinted bubbles rests on top of the pour.

Small Gods Brewing is a tidy brewing collective in the seaside village of Sidney, British Columbia. Brewing since 2020, Small Gods has built itself on the ideas of openness and service to those in need. Small Gods chose a theme of “books” for their taproom, not only predicating the layout, decor, and colour scheme in the style of a well-organized book, but also bringing books themselves into the space. Like a friendly local library, Small God’s welcomes all ages to enjoy the space and has regular readings, book swaps, and book clubs. So if you’re traveling along the coast and need somewhere to rest your weary soul, have a pint, and read a good tome... look no further. The Voices In The Evening is a Sour-ale infused with blackberries and blood orange for a wild fruit aroma and flavour, but also sweetened with lactose for a smoother body. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for six months.
