Profile

Smell

Classic NEIPA aromas of muddled tropical fruit that has a touch of citrus zest and the obligatory hop profile of pine and flowers - all balanced together quite well.

Taste

Follows the thread of the classic New England IPA with a touch of muddled tropical fruit and sharp, piney hops to balance them out. The hops are more prominent and evolve a little on the palate, moving from piney to a more floral taste as it warms on the tongue. Smooth body that drifts toward a dry finish with a little hop aftertaste. NEIPA straight down the middle of the plate.

Pairing

Anything with some heat to complement the touch of bitterness, a lovely Chicken Curry or Jerk Chicken would be perfect.

Sight

Pours a light yellow colour with a seriously hazy body and low carbonation. A thin, frothy head forms from the pour and slowly vanishes.

Description

Sloop Brewing began when Adam Watson and Justin Taylor got together a small self-brewing setup, preparing beer and selling it at the local farmer’s markets of the Hudson Valley. Success has come quickly for the duo, with the opening of a production facility in 2014 and then their brew-pub opening in the abandoned IBM plant at East Fishkill in 2018. The pair named their company for the boats that moved up and down the Hudson, ferrying people and trade goods, which led to the explosive growth of the east coast. In the same spirit, their brewing talents connect people and business now, and their beer is spreading across the country. With over a dozen craft beers, many of them part of a unique brew series, Sloop is putting out quality that crosses all styles and tastes. (NO) Santa is a lean New England IPA made to satisfy the taste buds of the IPA purist. A holiday beer that doesn’t have seasonal spices or candy mixed in. Serves well at 8°C and you should crack it during the holidays.
