Description

What happens when four members of the Ale and Lager Enthusiasts of Saskatchewan club get together and decide they have a lot in common? One of them convinces the others to open a brewery.  Enter Josh Morrison, Brent Babyak, Glenn Valgardson, and Nathan Kary, home brewers that got lucky when, in 2016, Valgardson obtained equipment from a failed brewery sitting in the basement of the Copper Kettle that was just collecting dust.  He made a deal with the restaurant’s owner and in 2016 Pile O’ Bones was born.  The brewery grew beyond what any of their expectations were.  With the locals support the brewery grew into a larger space located on Camerson Street.  In July of 2023, Pile O’ Bones and Nokomis Craft Ales announced they are merging operations, which will enable the companies to manage each brewery with greater efficiency by giving their companies increased purchasing power to better withstand the rising costs of ingredients and packaging.  Both breweries will however to operate independently under their own brands.  The name is in reference to Regina’s unofficial nickname.  It is an anglicization of the original Cree name for the city of Regina, oskana ka-asastēki (often shortened to Wascana or Oskana).
