Profile

Smell

A hop forward aroma with fresh cut leaves and piney qualities. Behind the hops you’ll pick up aromas of sweeter malt and citrus zest.

Taste

A strong hop kick right off the bat. Strong pine and fresh greens in the hops that shift into a loamy and flinty flavour as it warms on the tongue. The hops ease up a touch to let the sweet malt come through but the fruit elements stay on the fringe, mostly coming through as citrus zest and flesh. Finishes up with a slightly dry mouthfeel and hoppy aftertaste.

Pairing

A solid contender for any of the spicy classics you’d have with an IPA. Get into a thai green curry or flip the script and get hot wings.

Sight

Pours a dark tawny colour with a slightly hazy body and low carbonation. A solid head of sticky lacing foam pours from the can.

Description

Along the back roads of Inglewood, a stone’s throw from Calgary’s downtown, you’ll find the old railway warehouse converted into the Ol’ Beautiful. What began with a stable of four reliable pints has grown into more than a hundred craft beers. OB represents the rejuvenating power of the craft scene, joining the rise of Inglewood from industrial suburb to one of Calgary’s premiere areas for food and drink. Each of Ol’ Beautiful’s beers is made with a single, simple idea behind it: loving good beer. Built on classic techniques and ever-green ideas, it’s worth getting a six of your favorite style from the OB and if you have the luck of being near their taproom, get into a freshly drawn pint. Melody is a classic hop-forward IPA that combines a sweet malt backbone with juicy tropical fruits and a hop profile that takes you on a journey when it hits your palate. An IPA for those who love IPA. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
