Profile

Smell

The fruit combination takes up a lot of the airspace for this beer. A pleasant and sweet blend of mango and pineapple, but deep in the background you’ll pick up some of the pine resin hops.

Taste

The taste follows the aroma with a subtle switcheroo – the hops are in front of the fruit flavour. The pine and leafy hops are tasty, backed up by the fruit to balance things out and keep this party from getting too bitter. The two worlds collide with a positive result, delivering a great IPA that comes from a slightly different direction. Finishes up dry with a touch of fruit left behind.

Pairing

A great partner for anything coming from the sea and getting grilled. Some Mahi Mahi with rice pilaf will get the job done right.

Sight

Pours a dark yellow colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A big, frothy head of bubbles takes up residence after the pour.

Description

Along the back roads of Inglewood, a stone’s throw from Calgary’s downtown, you’ll find the old railway warehouse converted into the Ol’ Beautiful. What began with a stable of four reliable pints has grown into more than a hundred craft beers. OB represents the rejuvenating power of the craft scene, joining the rise of Inglewood from industrial suburb to one of Calgary’s premiere areas for food and drink. Each of Ol’ Beautiful’s beers is made with a single, simple idea behind it: loving good beer. Built on classic techniques and ever-green ideas, it’s worth getting a six of your favorite style from the OB and if you have the luck of being near their taproom, get into a freshly drawn pint. Fingers Crossed is a New England IPA with a smooth, full body that carries a delicate mix of mango and pineapple. Serves well at 8°C and should be cracked open right away.
