Profile

Smell

Quite a lot of pine hops on the nose coupled with a mild citrus kick. Get your honker deep into the glass and you’ll pick up some floral hops as well.

Taste

The citrus and muddled fruitiness expected of most pale ales does show up but it’s quick to take a step back and let the hops on stage. The flavour shifts into a floral, earthy taste that you will not expect from a pale ale - very interesting. That taste lingers as well, as the mouthfeel becomes a touch dry, it will echo on for a while.

Pairing

They recommend spicy or a hamburger, so why not both? Look up the Insanity Burger... you will have no regrets.

Sight

Pours a darker gold colour bordering on amber with a mostly clear body and medium carbonation. Only a thin ring of bubbles forms around the edge of the glass.

Description

Growing up in Yellowknife instilled the isolation, beauty, and potential of the far north directly into everything Fletcher Stevens has done. So after a brief career as a mechanic, Stevens decided to take up a quest to bring those qualities to the wide world. Beginning with a home-brew kit purchased by his wife and business partner Miranda, Stevens worked hard to build the first recipes of NWT Brewing. In 2014, the couple took the leap, opening up the NWT Brewing Company, fronted by the Woodyard Brewhouse and Eatery. Now this small craft brewing couple's handiwork is available for your enjoyment. Despite the challenges of the 2020's, NWT has recently expanded to a bigger and better brewing facility, to ensure their beers make it across the continent and beyond. Ragged Pine follows the tradition of the American style of pale ales: cleaner and snappier body with a big hop profile that will knock down your doors. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
