Profile

Smell

The nose is defined by the creamy sweetness of the malt with biscuit notes, and hints of floral and some baking spice (very soft). Some citrus and dried bread.

Taste

It’s a beer that tastes clear and precise, balanced hops that are refined in their bitterness and the floral notes are complimentary to the sweet biscuit, yeasty notes. Some creamed corn, and dried pineapple with citrus and hints of spice. Pleasantly malty on the finish.

Pairing

Light green salads with grilled spot prawns, poached pears, semi-firm cheeses. Vegetarian flatbreads with sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes.

Sight

Golden in the core with some opal flecks. Creamy white head. Pours clear.

Description

In operation since 1803 in the village of Krombach, Germany. The Village was already noted for making excellent brews as earliest mentions go as far back as 1300. They were one of the earliest breweries to help create the Pilsner style and perfect the recipe back in 1890. Krombach prides itself on its water source, which is taken from the natural rock spring which is ideal as it is soft water so it doesn’t need any processing. This ‘Felsquellwasser’ and the Kindelsberg tower became a Krombach landmark and is instilled on every product Krombacher makes as a coat of arms. Family-owned and operated for generations, Krombacher Brewery started off as a small brewery and has since grown into the largest privately owned brewery in Germany. Krombacher beer is brewed exclusively from the best natural ingredients and with great care and attention to detail using original centuries-old brewing crafting combined with some modern techniques. Krombacher, supports the environment with various public projects in the form of various nature and species protection projects as the preservation of nature has been an integral part of the Krombacher brand since inception. This Lager, which is rated as one of the best in Germany, is lightly opal with a golden core appearance. The Bitterness of the hops are lightly restrained, with a pleasant malty sweetness on the finish.
