Profile

Smell

A strong aroma of tropical fruit, leaning on the mango, but there’s also a whiff of perfume and booziness that psyches out the rest of the aroma.

Taste

A combination of hoppy pine resin and tropical fruit blasts right out of the gate and onto your palate. The hops ease back and the fruit becomes a bit stronger and sweeter. A slightly earthy note comes in at this point to match the sweetness. The mouthfeel is mostly smooth until the end of the taste, where it turns to a slightly dry and chalky finish.

Pairing

Get into a Butter Chicken that warms your heart.

Sight

Pours a pale golden colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A thin, frothy head of sticky foam rests on top of the pour.

Description

In days long past, the Butcher was more than merely the provider of meat. Often they were regarded as the provider of many needs – food, advice, and a helping hand. That’s the spirit that Hop Butcher has taken on when they decided to wear the mantle. Their daily offering is hops, which they offer up and use to brew. With the same generosity of spirit and commitment to knowledge about their fare, they make beer flow from their brewing yards in Chicago, Illinois. And their aspiration is not only for the good people of Chicago, but to be the Hop Butcher for the World. To bring together ingredients, talents, and techniques from around the globe, producing some of the best beer to be found, wherever you’re from or heading. The Lord Octopus is a Double IPA with powerful fruit flavour and funky aromas. Offering a unique take on the IPA, this hazy beer is worth your attention. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
