Profile

Smell

Creamy biscuits, fresh white loaf of bread, light caramel.

Taste

Lovely grainy flavour, clean and mineral, just a hint of bitterness very subtle. Cream-like, that fresh whiff of lactic brightness, hints of toasted cereal, hints of pineapple core and dried citrus rind.

Pairing

This beer is the perfect "snack" beer-think roasted nuts, dense cheeses like mild cheddar, chicken or turkey sausages.

Sight

Delightfully thick foam, creamy and rich, clean golden in its core. Clear and bright.

Description

Burdock is located in West Toronto and opened its doors in 2015 so relatively new to the scene. This is a small pub (with a music hall attached to it) with big aspirations. At the helm of the team is Siobhan McPherson, who used to brew for Mill St and Amsterdam. Burdocks focus’s is on creating beers that pair well with food and are unpretentious in nature. They mostly make lagers and pale ales and also create limited edition grape ales which if you don’t know, are beers that are inspired by wine making. They often combine wine making techniques with their brewing techniques. The name is a nod to the actual plant, as one of the owners is a keen gardener. Burdock even has a little hop garden on site that one day they are hoping to use in their beers.
