Profile

Smell

A strong blend of tropical fruit aroma that leans heavily into the mango fruit and dank, floral hops that have a wonderful depth.

Taste

The flavour muddles together the fruit and hops far more than you’d expect from the nose. The fruit comes through less on the mango and more of a sweet, banana and pineapple mixture. Hops lean back into more floral territory and only bring a touch of bitterness. The mouthfeel is quite astringent and snappy, and the whole tasting flies by in a flash.

Pairing

Laid back bitterness means this beer can have some spice but nothing too nutty. Dig into a blackened chicken sandwich for some cajun crunch.

Sight

Pours a light golden colour with a hazy body and light carbonation. A thin ring of white foam clings to the edge of the glass.

Description

Founded in 2011, Almanac Beer Co. is the handiwork of two home-brewers, Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman. The duo set out to produce beers using the rich, diverse ingredients of California, using classic styles. Their first beer, a bottle-conditioned Belgian-style golden ale, was sold out of a car trunk, but from humble beginnings came wild success. A slow release of quality craft beers grew into a going concern within 2 years, and by 2013 Almanac was a full-time gig. 2020 saw the company moving into their new 30,000 sq.ft. production facility in San Francisco Bay. Larger production allowed them to make some of their dream beers finally come true - barrel-aged sours, wild stouts, hazy IPAs, and more. The Love Hazy IPA is made in the East Coast style with tons of dank power from the classic medley of hops, juicy tropical aromas, and steady Pilsner backbone. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed right away.
