Profile

The Hypha Project is a Canadian art and beer creating initiative that crosses the worlds of street art, music, and craft brewing. The goal is to create through the community, allowing the spirit of those who work and play in the artistic fabric to come through. This is not always a successful execution, but it creates an environment where interesting, unique, and surprising discoveries in art and tasty craft beer can emerge. Made up of three friends who once worked with a whole group in creating art and beer, now the Hypha coterie has doubled down to create a more ambitious brewing project than ever before. Huzzah for great craft brew. The Inceptional IPA is a New England-style but with a unique hop twist to give it a smooth mouthfeel, snappy flavour, and dry finish. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.

Look

Pours a hazy, golden yellow colour with low carbonation. A slim ring of small bubbles forms around the top of the glass after the pour.

Smell

Quite a mellow nose, with notes of tropical fruit that muddle together, but you can pick up some pineapple and citrus zest. There’s a slight hint of pine resin hops in the background, but quite faint.

Taste

For a NEIPA this beer is mellow and easy drinking - first taste will offer up the muddled fruit flavour you can expect from Mosaic hops and a slightly sweet but laid back malt. Warming up on the tongue you’ll taste more of the leafy, green hops coming into play. The mouthfeel is smooth until the taste fades off and then finishes dry.

Pairing

The slight bitterness could use something with a touch of spice and even some sweetness to help amp the fruit. Sweet chili on nearly anything would be tasty.
