Profile

The founders of Red Hart Brewing found it an auspicious sign - a telling sign that they should open a brewery - when their brewmaster (after drinking some of his own tasty beer) went head over heels into the Red Deer River. Clearly a sign from the fates, they began the process of getting Red Hart on its feet. A few years and a few beers later, they’ve started showing up on the craft radar in Alberta. Three hand-crafted beers come out of Red Hart at the moment, and they show no signs of slowing. Their tap room is a choice spot to grab a pint or have a coffee, and the atmosphere welcomes you home. Bambi’s Revenge Double IPA is a name that says it all. This is a take on the Imperial IPA that’s out to shoot down the hunter. Strong hop profile, well-defined fruit, this is one serious IPA. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.

Look

Pours a pale yellow colour with a slightly hazy body and low carbonation. A thin, fizzy ring of bubbles forms around the glass.

Smell

Strong aroma of the hops and to a lesser extent the fruit. The hops are bright, fresh, and green, dominating most of the nose. The fruit is muddled, hiding in the background and difficult to pull out anything specific.

Taste

Taste follows the nose closely on this beer. The hops are up front and taking control, fresh and leafy with a touch of minerality and earth. You can catch a taste of the fruit right off the starting line but it’s quickly swallowed up by the hops. Clean and crisp, smooth mouthfeel - this is an IPA for those who like simple, straight forward IPA.

Pairing

Classic IPA style means it’s time for spicy and something with some fat on would help keep the palate balanced.
