Joe Lemnah spent six years brewing for others, more than 200 different styles and 10,000 hours with his mind on beer. And then he knew it was time to start his own brewery. A few years of hard planning and running around the pylons of bureaucracy resulted in the doors of Burlington Beer Co. opening its doors. A brewery that roots style in the traditions of old brewing, but willing to push that history into the next era of craft brewing. To experiment with what can be while respecting what has been - a balance that has produced a local favourite whose name has reached up from the streets of Burlington, Vermont. Four flagship beers, dozens of pale ales, special release porters and stouts, and vintage barrel-aged - a slate of beers that will impress any style of beer drinker. The Elaborate Metaphor is a New England Pale Ale, brewed with classic hop profile and delivering a fruity and floral aroma. Serves well at 6°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
Pours a light, golden colour with a cloudy body and low carbonation. Very little foam out of the can.
Classic Eastern pale ale aroma of muted tropical fruit leaning on passionfruit but with a zesty citrus kick. The hops are green and floral with a delicate perfume.
The Citra hops are evident with the power of the citrus and fruit right off the hop, but this beer quickly evolves on the palate, turning down the volume on the fruit and letting the sweet floral hops open up. That flavour takes a sharp turn, becoming strong and leafy, almost like mint or basil leaf and revealing more of the malt. It all chops off pretty quick, leaving a dry finish.
Something roasted with a sweet kick would be a great pairing, roast pork skewers with pineapple - excellent fat and sweet fruit.
