Introduction

Known for their out of the box styles and eye-catching artwork, Clown Shoes Beer is a celebrated selection for you! Years ago, Gregg Berman lost a contest to create a new recipe for a major US brewery, but he knew he had a good recipe, so he contracted out the brewing of that single Clown Shoes Beer. He certainly didn't expect the amount of demand he received from small-town Massachusetts, but since they opened in 2009 he hasn't had time to slow down. Clown Shoes has shown the numerous strengths of using contract brewing and grown their business, currently producing 16,000 barrels of beer per year, out of up to 4 breweries at any given time. Most breweries contract out the label designs, but Clown Shoes employs a full-time Sequential Artist who used to specialize in comic books; which gives each label its own unique story. Bubble Farm shows us that on another world, on another farm, someone is reminded that novelty footwear helps find the humour in life. Contemplate the challenges of anti-gravity farming while sipping a chilled 7 C Bubble Farm.

How it looks

Beautiful bubbles rise through the golden body to create 2 fingers of fluffy, ivory coloured head. The head gets out of the way fairly quickly, leaving light lacing down the glass.

How it smells

Each sniff has a breaded backbone, with light bubblegum-like citrus. We find a good amount of pineapple, and over-ripe nectarines giving off sweet fruity tones, followed by a light apple-pear with a touch of fresh tangerine.

How it tastes

Lots of fresh pineapple and tangerine, with a bit of grassiness, and some wheat-based dough notes. We get the citrus showing through the middle, combined with some earthiness from the plentiful floral hops, while pomelo citrus and moderate carbonation give some zippy effervescence to the mouthfeel! Bubble Farm balances the newer American style of bitter hops, with the more traditional malt-forward profile, giving a really nice balance and abundant mouthfeel.

Recommended food pairing

Fire up the barbecue and throw a thick, marbled steak on the grill. The browning Maillard (my-yard) reaction on the outside of the meat is going to play with the light sweetness in this IPA, while the citrus and moderate carbonation help your mouth get ready for the next bite!
