Sweet to the point being a touch cloying, like sticking your face in a bag of cotton candy. A slight touch of sourness complements the lactose sweetness.

Despite being so sweet smelling, the taste drives toward the hoppier side of the road almost immediately. The taste is earthy and green, tasting of fresh leaves. The influence of the lactose sugars is more obvious in the smooth mouthfeel and softening of the flavours. The taste is fast and heads out the door right away, leaving just a touch of dryness and chalkiness.

Birthday cake? This beer is very sweet and potentially worth drinking solo.

Pours a beautiful gold colour with a clear body and light carbonation. A thin cap of small bubbles rests on the top of the glass.

It took more than a few long, hard years of working out the formula for Drew Fox to bring his home brewing passion from the garage to the streets of Indiana. While the project that was 18th Street began in 2010, it wasn’t until 2013 that the first official release hit the shelves. But the first release was the starting pistol for a brewery that quickly went into major production, leaping from a small brewpub to a massive warehouse in a handful of years and spreading sweet craft beer across the state. 18th Street now sports 8 year-round beers along with special releases and a tasting room putting out custom beers. The Candi Crushable is a collaboration with Northdown Cafe & Taproom, resulting in a light-bodied American-style pale ale that’s smooth and sweet, but still hides a hoppy edge in the back pocket. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
