Introduction

Founded out of a 100-year-old building in downtown Eureka, a small city of just over 20,000 people located on the coast of California, Lost Coast Brewery is one the original pioneers of the California craft beer surge. Best known for beers such as Great White, Tangerine Wheat and 8 Ball Stout, Lost Coast specializes in producing a great line of fan pleasing year-rounds and funky seasonal brews. Their brand is distinctive, fun and heavily influenced by California surf culture. We are proud to present the Canadian launch of this brew. The Fogcutter is the brewery’s first in the Graveyard Series and their first true Double IPA. Clocking in at 80 IBUs, this is a bright and citrusy DIPA. For diehard IPA fans, this is a safe and enjoyable, and for beginners, this beer is a perfect way to introduce your taste buds to the wonderful world of big and bold DIPAs and Imperials. Serve between 7-10C.

How it looks

Pours like a dream, you will not be disappointed with its golden amber presentation. Clear, clean and moderately carbonated. A small ½ inch lace head lingers and clings to the glass.

How it smells

Aromatic hops such as Cascade, Centennial, Crystal, Chinook and Citra give a bright citrus nose while the dry hopping technique helps strengthen the aroma. Sweet notes of marmalade, nectarines, blood oranges, mango and caramel come to mind.

How it tastes

DIPA drinkers will lavish this beer for its well-balanced taste, it does not come across as overwhelmingly bitter or watered down. 5 different hops and a variety of malt flavours create a DIPA that is surprisingly crisp and clean. Initial strong hop flavour is enough to make your tongue tingle, but you’re left with a smooth and crisp after taste. Notes of honey, orange, grapefruit, pine, herbs, toasted biscuit, aromatic bitters and rye are present to compliment the bold citrus and floral.

Recommended food pairing

Salty cured meats likes ham, chorizo and bacon go very well with a DIPA. Prime rib, blue cheese, and sweet deserts like salty caramel gelato will also help make a DIPA even more delicious.
