Description
This brewery has its roots going all the way back to the early 1900’s when it opened in 1912. When the Temperance Movement picked up this brewery was one of the first businesses of Medicine Hat to close. Fast track to 100 years later and the dedication of one family that decided to open its doors once again. Warren Vancuren and his sons spent many months travelling North America and beyond to really hone their skills as brewers and learn the art of beer making. With the help of one experienced brewer-Mitch Dalrymple, MH Brewery has really taken its stride back. The brewery combines tradition with innovation and sourcing local Canadian ingredients as possible. Almost all of their malt comes from Alberta farmers, whose malting and kilning extracts as much colour, flavour and complexity that they can. Sustainability is the name of the game and MH Brewery strives to be as ethical as possible in reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as recycle everything where possible (even the spent grain is donated to cattle farmers!) MH Brewery is a strong supporter of local businesses and communities where possible.
