The citrus zest and flesh is strong on the top of the aroma but it's backed by sturdy, lightly toasted grain notes. There’s a vague sense of peppery spice flirting in the background.


Light and crisp - this beer delivers on the wheat ale components with a strong base of lightly toasted grain flavour and more prominent spiciness than the nose was telling us about. The spices taste of pepper, coriander, and a touch of allspice. The citrus is far more laid back in the flavour, only really communicating a touch of the zest and very little of the sweet flesh. Slightly astringent mouthfeel and it chops off the flavour quickly.


Combines well with fatty meat that’s been charbroiled - get into some ribs with a tangy sauce to complement the beer.


Pours a pale orange colour with a murky body and low carbonation. A thin ring of frothy bubbles floats on top out of the can.

Mason has four year-round cans on the slate, and pumps out more one-off specialties than a menuless diner. On the way out, tip your hat to Zak and Grant, who were foolish enough to invest their money, but smart enough to invest it in beer. Willy Time is a white ale based on the classic European lineage. White ales are a low-alcohol wheat beer, often made with spicy and citrusy accents. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for six months.
