Mostly you’ll pick up aromas of the grainy malt that has a touch of caramel but way in the background you can find some of the citrus and passionfruit playing volleyball.

The flavour brings together all the best features of a blonde ale with a few pale ale tweaks to deliver a smooth, slightly sweet baseline that gets a touch of citrus and passionfruit, tweaked by the piney hops. It’s everything advertised, but in a far more laid back mode. Smooth mouthfeel and silky finish make this a great beer for the patio.

Anything from the pub’s menu will go with this beer nicely.

Pours a dark honey colour with a clear body and low carbonation. A thin layer of small bubbles rests on top.

It's not often that one can pull topics from the Great Cosmic Hat such as space exploration, flavour experimentation, sustainable business, the vast reaches of the unknown in the human soul, and the beauty of British Columbia in such a way that they intersect. And yet, here we are: Mariner Brewing is that intersection. Started in 2016 and nestled in the heart of Coquitlam, British Columbia, we find a brewery that enjoys collaborating with other craft operators while showcasing the bounty of Western Canada. They began because of their love of exploration, inspired by space travel during the 1960s and the endless possibilities of space itself. Also they really enjoy beer and making great styles. Ground Control is one of four core beers at Mariner. An easy drinking American pale ale with citrus notes and pine hops, it serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed fairly soon.
