The aroma has a fruity combination of peach and citrus, leaning toward grapefruit flesh and zest. A touch of toasty, cereal grains, and a hop profile that’s floral and earthy.

The flavour is quite flat and the fruity character from the aroma is a touch difficult to pick up. Let it warm on the palate for a second to get more out of it. Once the fruity aspect fades off, a sharp bitterness with floral and herbal notes signals the arrival of the hops. The flavour is fairly well-balanced, with a touch of astringent mouthfeel and a slightly bitter finish.

Something fatty off the grill would complement the bitter elements of the beer. BBQ pork is always a nice combo.

Pours a pale honey colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A thin layer of small, frizzy white bubbles caps the top of the glass.

Charles Porter and Brenda Crow have made their life together and their beer. A family-run craft brewing operation, Little Beast Brewing aims to bring back the earthy touch of natural brewing to the craft game. Producing only wild, wood-aged, and blended beers, the couple rely on natural, wild cultures including Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus. The result is beer bursting with character and emblematic of the natural world around them. With a dozen of these wild brews on the slate, Little Beast has something for all flavour of beer drinker - with a unique take on the style. There’s many a craft beer stop to be made when you head through Portland, Oregon, but now there’s one that you simply will not experience anywhere else you may roam. The Green Queen is an IPA in the west coast style - assertive hops that deliver juicy citrus and pine resin, evolving on the palate for a dynamic flavour. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.
