Profile

Smell

Strong grain malt as a backbone with a sweet confectioner’s sugar top note. A touch of stone fruit and grapes, and some floral hops.

Taste

Quite a mild flavour that has a touch of white grape juice, weak flavour of malt grains, and a bite of citrus zest. There’s a sharpness to the flavour that will hit quickly and then fade off to a flatter grain taste. Mouthfeel is dry and finishes up slightly chalky. A snappy tasting lager that comes and goes with speed.

Pairing

Solid beer for nearly any pub food and we can’t ever pass up the recommendation of a burger.

Sight

Pours a light golden colour with a clear body and medium carbonation. A respectable centimeter of bone-white, frothy foam rests on top of the glass.

Description

Knight’s Hand is fairly new to the brewing scene out in Vancouver, but the pedigree of brewers working under the label is made up of old hands. Knight’s Hand started with a commitment to organic beer making - using the best ingredients directly from friendly farmers and a regulated production process. But the desire to follow these rules wasn’t merely for a handy label on the can, it was the desire to take the time and effort to produce some of the best craft beer on the coast. Maybe even across the nation. Currently there are four beers coming from the Hand and making their way across the country. The Fair Maiden is an organic lager, made in small batches by Knight’s Hand to not only meet regulations but to ensure that the same artisanal quality comes out of each and every batch. The beer rests for nearly six weeks to produce its clarity and flavour. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed sooner rather than later.
