Profile

Smell

There’s a hint of roasted malt and some citrus on this nose but a lot of it gets drowned out by the boozy kick of the rum. But it’s a pleasant aroma, sweet and floral, hinting at quality.

Taste

The flavour leaps out and grabs you, delivering the mouth puckering sourness of a good saison but following up with a rich toffee and liquor combo from the rum barrel lineage. The flavour moves fast, hitting you with sweet and sour notes, some floral hints, and a lemon kick before vanishing into the night. The mouth feel is slightly acidic but finishes up dry and clean.

Pairing

It’s time to break out your charcuterie board and load it up with everything tasty. Focus on Brie and Camembert for your cheeses.

Sight

Pours pitch black with a totally occluded body and low carbonation. A bubbly head of chocolatey foam pours from the can and quickly recedes.

Description

Six years ago, Henderson Brewing cranked up the engine and started canning their beers for distribution. Their Amber ale was the first offering and a lonely one. But it didn't take much time for the beer drinkers of Toronto to recognize that something special was on the scene. Now at full steam in the Brewery District, inside the Junction Triangle, Henderson is canning a few more. A full slate of Ales, Pilsners, IPA, and seasonal experiments flows from their taproom and can be picked up in a handy six of your favorite style. On top of brewing some tasty craft beer, their Brewery stands in as a venue for more than a few Food and Music festivals. But if you can’t find your way to Toronto, you can still enjoy their handiwork by cracking open a can. The Aria is a barrel-aged Saison, getting some deep character from its time spent in used Rum aging barrels. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed soonish.
