Description

When Robert Bilton founded Field & Forge, he wanted a name that reflected the history and legacy of the Bilton family.  “Field” is in reference to the story of Robert’s great grandfather William Shirley Bilton, who traveled from Ontario to Alberta in search of land. He set out in the 1890s to build a homestead, stopping in Calgary to rent a saddle horse and then headed out northeast. He found his land in Knee Hilley Valley, several miles from Innisfail. The land that he found has remained in the family for over 130 years and has been used to cultivate prized malt, canola, and wheat. The very grain that is used in the production of their brews today.  The “Forge” is referencing Robert’s company that he founded over 25 years ago: Bilton Welding and Manufacturing. In a continuation of the family commitment to the Central Alberta region, Field & Forge is committed to supporting the local communities. The brewery also supports other craft brewers, all through contract brewing to help them build their own brands.  To ensure the highest level of quality in their ales, Field & Forge has invested heavily in the best brewing equipment from around the world, with high levels of automation and quality control.
