Description
Eighty-Eight Brewing celebrates all things Calgarian, all things that are reminiscent of the 80’s really. The Olympics came to Calgary in ’88, Tiffany put out #1 hits and neon colours were everywhere. Eighty-Eight Brewing continues to celebrate the spirit of Calgary from that year, and will continue to celebrate diversity and inclusivity all in this great city of ours. It's an ode to the Calgary Olympics and it feels like you have stepped back in time to the 80’s when you enter the brewery. There is an original Nintendo Entertainment System, neon lights and plenty of Olympic memorabilia that adds to the charm of this place. When Stuart Valentin and his three friends who are his partners were working on opening a brewery, they wanted to create a space that celebrated the city and above all have a place where people could have lots of fun and celebrations. The team has given cheeky names to their brews such as Cassette, Hologram, and Hammer Pants. They opened their doors in 2018 and their first beer was a Pale Ale, “88” which is also their flagship beer. Eighty-Eight brews an impressive list of different craft brews as well as non-alcoholic beers, ciders, and now spirit cocktails. Check out some of Eighty-Eight's local partnerships: Sled Island (they make exclusive beers for the festival), Calgary Underground Film Festival, and they partnered with the 2021/22 Olympics and sponsored local Calgary athletes.
