Profile
Smell
A mild aroma of roasted grains and floral notes, in the background you’ll catch the faint whiff of sweet caramel.
Taste
The initial flavours lean pretty heavily into the roasted grains and leafy greens of the hops. As it warms on the tongue, the leafiness will evolve into a more floral taste that helps balance some of the bitterness of the roasted qualities. The body is fairly smooth through the taste, finishing up a touch dry and leaving behind those leafy greens.
Pairing
A great beer for a well-stocked charcuterie board or a night at the sushi bar.
Sight
Pours nearly black with low carbonation. A frothy head of chocolatey foam pours from the can.

Description
When a brewer tells you they interrupted their own brewing process to infuse a biotransformative enzyme to synthesize a new kind of beer, your urge to dial the looney-bin is not off target. Are they mad scientists? Maybe. Will they deliver on their promise of a new kind of beer? Yes. Dageraad Brewing gives the craft brewing scene in British Columbia something to think about on a regular basis, and makes all other brewers wonder if they’re up to the challenge. Winner of the 2018 award for Brewery Of the Year by the Canadian Brewing Awards, it’s always a great day when they grace the slate. This is old world style hit by a lightning bolt and given contemporary life. All coming from a little operation in a Vancouver suburb. The Tanuki is a dark lager built on wild rice for a floral top note backed by a rich, roasted malt body that’s tasty and satisfying. Serves well at 10°C and can cellar for up to six months.
