Profile

Smell

An interesting combination of slightly sweet fruit that’s hard to identify and a funky yeast aroma indicative of the sour notes.

Taste

Savage acidity on the tongue, it will wake up your taste buds and then push them off their bed. The combination of sweetness and funky sourness from the aroma is right there in the taste. But it comes and goes with shocking speed. Tangy and lovely flavour but the effect in the mouth might drown out any tasting. The flavour is gone in a flash and leaves behind a mouthwatering effect and a slight taste of apples.

Pairing

This flavour is unique and fast - enjoy the beer and worry about food later.

Sight

Pours a pale yellow colour with a slightly hazy body and low carbonation. A thin ring of white bubbles rings the top of the glass.

Description

The female pirate, Anne Bonny, is immortalized in flavor by Le Corsaire Microbrasserie in Quebec. Famous for her raucous attitude and seemingly indomitable charm, the Quebec based brewery aimed to make a German Pilsner that held the same characteristics. The result is a sharp, tasty beer that lingers in the mind. Corsaire is dedicated to creating local versions of classic British styles. Master Brewer and Owner Martin Vaillancourt, was trained in England, and while young on the scene he has made Corsaire a multi-award winning brewery in a handful of years. Precisely the resume of a brewer Bonny would have given the nod to make a beer for her name. Corsaire keeps a dozen beers across all styles on the taps right now, all available in their pirate hide-out, helpfully dubbed “the pub.” The Sky Drop is dry-hopped sour ale with balanced acidity and celestial flavour. Serves well at 10°C and can cellar for up to a year.
