The coconut elements are hiding away in the aroma, only showing a touch of sweetness, while most of what you’ll smell is toasted grain and a touch of molasses.

The coconut is more obvious in the flavour than it is in the aroma, but still in the toasted form. It lends smoothness to the body and throttles back on the more bitter notes of the toasted grains. But the flavour comes and goes fast, leaving behind a dry mouthfeel and the slight sweet, floral qualities of the coconut.

Grilled meat with some fat on it will help leaven the dry finish and lock in some of the flavours on the palate.

Pours a deep, dark amber bordering on inky, with light carbonation. A thin layer of small, chocolate-tinted bubbles holds down the top of the beer.

Just as the A-Team could show up in a small town beset by a sinister group of non-descript bad guys, come up with a plan, and then kick just enough teeth to save the day, Bomber is a precision team in the craft brewing world. Bomber Brewing is a workhorse company, producing contract beers with small brewers and craft developers who need a partnership to produce the needed levels of beer for a brilliant new idea. But in-between helping professional golfers create legacy beers for their hometown or showing east coast brew champs how to make hops dance, Bomber makes a few of their own beers. And when the wrecking shows up, you take notice. The Hideaway Coconut Porter is Bomber’s way of bringing the warmth of the tropics up to Canada to battle the frozen winter. A porter with smooth coconut, rich chocolate, and nutty sweetness, you won’t have to hide for too long from the cold. Serves well at 10°C and can cellar six months (but why wait?)
