Profile

Smell

This beer is dominated on the nose by its citrus notes, with some floral peeking out and hints of cookie dough. Some sweetness on the nose? There is also a bit of herbaceous green in there somewhere as if someone added some fresh herbs to the mix...

Taste

The bitterness is a bit aggressive but not overwhelming. It’s a careful balance of floral, baking spice and citrus fruit. Very juicy and the addition of the Muscat Grapes gives this beer that sweet floral fruity notes one gets from Moscato (if you have ever tried a Moscato!)

Pairing

Spicy pork tacos, homemade BBQ ribs, shellfish ceviche.

Sight

Pours opaque yellow gold to the core, with lemon-coloured flecks. Hints of cloud.

Description

Blood Brothers is situated in a renovated hundred-year-old horse stable in the Geary Avenue arts district.  The Jones brothers, Brayden and Dustin, are the founders and of course started out as homebrewers, and were also musicians.  Hailing from Windsor Ontario, the brothers felt spoiled as they had access to some great craft beers from Michigan.  They developed an in-depth knowledge about craft beers and that’s when the experimenting came in.  Music was their passion and beer replaced that.  The homebrewing learning grew into a larger project that needed a permeant home. Seeing what was happening in the States, the brothers wanted to mirror that growth in Ontario.  Their growth started off in a small 800-square-foot space that they shared with a bakery.  They used recycled materials in their brewery system, the tanks were open fermenters and flat bottomed.  While working as brewers at night they worked as contractors during the day.  While they grew their brewery, the Jones brothers grew their business to the Geary space and they brewed exclusively there for five years. Two years later, they finally found an additional production space. Their growth also included a new tap room and bottle shop.  In 2023 they started exporting their beers to the USA and also formed a partnership with One Stop Brew Stop in Greece, which gives them access to sell their beers for the first time in Europe.
