Troubled Monk opened its door and started throwing out cans of craft beer in 2015. From the mean streets of Red Deer, Alberta, Troubled Monk has launched an effort to produce excellent craft beer using primarily Canadian ingredients. It all began in a small 15 barrel brewhouse that’s been slowly creeping toward a larger and larger operation for nearly a decade. With their eyes on building a brilliant community of beer lovers and inspiring others through the craft of brewing, they seek out their trouble makers and bold brews. The Juicy Gossip is a New England-style IPA made with a seriously insane amount of hops to give it an evolving flavour on the palate and deliver a punch to your taste buds. Big, juicy tropical fruit flavours and an edge of hoppy goodness. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.

Pours a light yellow colour with a clear body and low carbonation. Only a light ring of bubbles forms around the pour.

Funkier on the nose than you might expect and it certainly doesn’t show up in the flavour. The fruit is present, but like the taste you’ll find it muddled together, not showing much of any individual aroma.

A smooth combination of velvety body and big tropical fruit flavours, touched by hops makes this a solid NEIPA. The fruit is muddled and you won’t likely pick out any one flavour, but it’s well mixed and not over-sweet. The hops are mild in their presentation, giving the body a slightly floral and sweet flavour without biting on the tongue. The body is smooth and refreshing, finishing up with a silky mouthfeel and leaving a touch of fruit behind.

A solid pairing for any spicy dish or grilled meat. Get yourself into a stir-fry with fresh veggies and really kick it up a notch.
