Introduction

During his time in the army, Pete spent a few years in Germany, learning to appreciate all the styles of beer that light up the palate. After leaving the army, Pete met up with high school buddy Joe and discovered someone equally passionate about beer. In 2010, the pair began figuring out how to brew their dreams with the purchase of a home brewing kit. Eventually their perseverance became Brix City Brewing. The brewery officially opened its doors in 2015, and the duo have been growing their roster of great beers and great people. Now their hard work is traveling far and wide from its home in New Jersey. The Acid Blend Jams Mix Volume 1 is a mix of BCB’s Acid Blend series and Jam series beers, using the fruit medley from one with the blend from another. The result is tart and fruity. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed within a few months.

How it looks

Pours a dark, amber honey colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A small cap of bubbly foam rests on top of the glass.

How it smells

Coconut and floral notes are the big player on this stage. A touch of fruity sweetness with a hint of funk - very pretty aroma on this beer.

How it tastes

The taste and the nose are fairly aligned here, you’ll get a sweet, fruity kick right off the bat, with coconut riding alongside in a well-balanced fashion. But the sour comes in just at the right time to keep the sweet from becoming cloying. The sour wakes up your tongue and lets the flavour open up, showing a surprising depth for something so sweet and bright. Finishes off fast and a touch dry.

Recommended food pairing

A perfect beer to break out the charcuterie board and make cured meat with cheese your target.
