Smack in the middle of upstate New Jersey, you’ll find the craft beer talent of Magnify Brewing. Opening their doors in 2015, Magnify is all about hop forward beers with dynamic flavour. Eric Ruta, the brewery's founder, took on the challenge of getting a craft brewery on its feet, despite the strict rules limiting the success of most brewers in New Jersey. It meant that Ruta was a one-man-band for several years of operation before things took off and he could build out a full team. You can find just about anything to suit your taste, but their speciality is in hoppy, high-alcohol craft beers that use blends of many hops to give them their unique character. The Rice Lager is based on the classic Japanese Rice Lager-style and does a great job of emulating it. Crisp and lean in the flavour, perfect for matching up with many different meals, and easy to quaff. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for six months.
