Profile

Along the lesser traveled roads of Colorado, you’ll eventually find yourself in the small town of Arvada. Put on the map during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush of the mid-19th century, Arvada enjoyed a small explosion of popularity before settling down, but there’s still gold to be found there. In the core of Olde Town Arvada is where you’ll find the main location of New Image Brewing, and the gold flows from their taps into pint glasses. Around 2015, their doors opened and they became a local spot for well made craft beers in the west coast style. New Image is all about busting the old paradigm of musty beer drinkers, who enjoy nothing but hoppy and malty old-world styles. They aim to make their beers delicious and fun, because how else are you going to get either of those things? The Coriolis Effect is an IPA based on New Zealand hops, giving the typical tropical fruit aroma and flavour a kick in the pants. Tasty and well-balanced. Serves ideally at 10°C and should be enjoyed promptly.

Look

Pours a pale yellow colour with a slightly hazy body. A frothy foam of sticky lacing rests on the top of the glass.

Smell

Juicy tropical fruit aroma springs from the glass, a touch of pineapple and citrus. The hop profile is flowery with a touch of herbs and loamy earth.

Taste

The fruit is luscious and stands at the front of the flavour, setting a nice tone to the whole taste. The fruit is more vague than on the nose, but the sweetness balancing with the herbal and floral hops is more important. Together they give the flavour some legs, evolving on the palate from simply sweet into some character and bitterness. Finishes slightly dry in the mouth with a sweet aftertaste.

Pairing

Break out the friend jalapeno with cheese and aioli dipping sauce.
