Neighbourhood Brewing resides in the heart of Penticton, British Columbia. Nestled within the Okanagan Valley, between Okanagan and Skaha lake, there was never a more perfect place for the making of craft beer. Neighbourhood Brewing takes their cue from their surroundings, making beer that is laid-back, enjoyable, perfect for sitting on a patio, and at all times fun. And along with making great beer, Neighbourhood Brewing is about making a great community. Supporting their local soup kitchen, participating in the Naramata Beach Preservation, or sponsoring the local kids ski club, the brewery strives to be a force for good all over the Neighbourhood. Currently running four core beers and a handful of seasonals, their taproom focuses on clean, crisp beers that are easy to share. The Happy Place is a pale ale with juicy fruit flavours and strong hop character that lights up your taste buds. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed right away.
Pours a pale, nearly clear yellow colour with a lot of carbonation. A frothy, pillowy head of foam pours from the can and recedes to a small island of foam floating around the beer.
Subtle aroma from this beer, you’ll get a touch of tropical fruit typical of a pale ale and a little bit of green, leafy hops playing in the background, but not much else is revealed.
This is a hop-forward beer, with the slightly bitter, earthy loam and fresh cut leaves taking centre stage. The fruity character cuts the hops a touch to give it some balance, but not by much. Most of what you’ll be tasting is the hops, which take a turn toward a slightly mineral and salty finish with a dry mouthfeel. Lean and light pale ale, good for a hot patio day.
Something spicy, but also something not too strong in the flavour, otherwise you’ll crush the quiet elements of this beer. Chicken Paprikash comes to mind.
