Introduction

Slackwater Brewing is a tight-knit family of beer enthusiasts rocking the Penticton craft beer scene. Built around the community, Slackwater has an open taproom with plenty of their work on tap and serving up a tasty menu. Slackwater is dedicated to sustainable brewing, and supporting the businesses around their brewhouse. Their current brewhouse enjoys equipment built by Ripley Stainless down the street. INgredients are sourced from local farms. Everything in the shop strives to be an integral part of the community in Penticton. And to help out those who don’t necessarily enjoy beer, the group also carries local wine and ciders, and a few seltzers. A solid spot to enjoy a meal, a night with the crew, or casual date. The Party Wave is a hazy IPA made in the New England-style. NEIPA leans on late hopping for big tropical fruit aromas and more body than classic styles. Serves well at 8°C and should be cracked open pronto.

How it looks

Pours a pale straw colour with a hazy body and low carbonation. A thin ring of bubbles clings to the top of the glass.

How it smells

A touch of tropical fruit, light biscuity malt, and strangely enough there’s a strong sense of freshly skimmed cream.

How it tastes

The flavour of this beer is quite mild. There’s the tropical fruit qualities you’d expect from this style of IPA, but they’re soft and the hops are hiding in the background. The flavour is simple and endures, fading off to a slightly sweet and smooth finish. The result is an easy drinking IPA, but may be a bit thin if you’re a power-IPA lover.
