Introduction

Begyle Brewing is a community supported brewing project located in the Ravenswood Industrial Corridor of Chicago - called “Malt Row” - and is dedicated to producing a diverse selection of easy-drinking, quality beer for beer drinkers of all sorts. Begyle is built on the principle of supporting the community, being part of the efforts to elevate and strengthen the fabric of their city. Their tap-room has 11 of their beers available for your enjoyment, and hosts local musicians and entertainment regularly. They’ve recently had their 10th birthday, and are proud to have been a landmark for their local beer drinkers to enjoy and feel welcome. The Begyle Blonde is a classic American Blonde style with a touch of honey to add depth of body and sweet character. With a taste of citrus and floral hops to back that honey up, you’ll enjoy a smooth, satisfying ale. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for six months.

How it looks

Pours a light straw colour with a clear body and light carbonation. Thin bubbles ring the top of the glass.

How it smells

Strong aromas of citrus flesh and zest, warm and sweet honey, floral hops, lightly toasted biscuit malt, and freshly cut green apples.

How it tastes

The citrus elements continue from the nose, a strong orange and lemon flesh along with the zest. Apples and pears come through as well, partnering well with the lightly toasted malt for balance. There’s a touch of spicy, pepperiness that helps to even out the fruit. The hops are present but they’re hiding around the edges, giving the flavour a bit of floral character. Finishes up quickly with a dry mouthfeel and some spice left behind.

Recommended food pairing

A great pair up with any pub food, so get into a Bacon Cheeseburger with a slightly tangy BBQ sauce.
