Time on the oil rig gave a handful of friends the idea that maybe brewing tasty beer was preferable to standing out in the -40°C weather all winter long. So in 2017 they quit the oil patch and kicked their dreams into gear. It took about half a year to transform an old auto parts store into a craft brewing factory capable of putting out what they’d dreamed up, but with the help of a talented brewer and hard work, they made a go of it. Now they’ve got a handy little taproom in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, open seven days a week and serving up a dozen tasty brews on their taps. Over Winter is a table beer, meaning it's intended as a drink for everyone who might be around the table during a meal. Lower in alcohol, conservative in flavour, and refreshing. Goes well with almost any meal that will hit your plate. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for up to six months.
Pours a pale yellow colour with clear body and low carbonation. A medium cap of fizzy, small-bubbled head pours from the can.
Delicate aroma from this beer, you’ll pick up some muddled fruit with an especially strong impression of apple peel and vague floral qualities. A touch of spice around the edges.
The lip smacking snap of saison wakes up your palate for this beer and that’s a good thing, because the flavor is as delicate as the nose. A nice combination of sweeter tropical fruit and earthier orchard fruit mix together. The alleged baking spices come off more as an impression helping to cut down anything cloying in the fruit. Overall a tricky beer to nail down on the palate but pleasant and easy to drink.
Great for any pairing but especially nice with hearty meals meant to give energy. Roast lamb and seasonal vegetables sound delightful!
