Founded in 2014, and making their brews atop the flowing plains of Saskatchewan, Rebellion Brewing Co. Is one of Regina’s hidden gems in the craft scene. It’s not often that you hear about great beer coming out of the heart of the prairies, but that simply means you don’t have your ear to the ground long enough. A little bit country and a lot of punk rock, Rebellion Brewing sports a half dozen year-round brews on their slate, and a dozen seasonals floating across the slate. A six of your favourites are ready for pickup, or you can get into a growler, even a keg. They’re here to make sure you’ve got tasty beer available every day and twice on Sunday. The Amber is a classic American-style red ale with malty body and a citrus kick to cut through and signal top flavour. Taste a gold medal winner and relax on your favourite patio. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for six months.
Pours a deep amber colour with partly occluded body and low carbonation. A thin layer of sticky bubbles on top leaves some lacing in the glass.
Aroma of toasted rye, warm caramel, a sharp and sweet scent of oranges, and a hop profile of freshly turned earth and green leaves.
The elements of any good Amber are here - slightly sweet and savoury malt, a touch of citrus to cut it down and keep it from getting syrupy. But this amber has a lot more hop up front in the flavour than you might normally expect. Nothing bad about it - leafy and fresh earth mix well with the malt and citrus, but it’s stronger than typical. Overall a solid flavour with some evolution on the palate and smooth finish.
Any pub food will do but you can’t say no to a Beef Dip.
