Introduction

UnFiltered Offering is the origin of the name and refers to each beer in the line up retaining the yeast. The choice to leave their beers unfiltered came from a trek to the pacific northwest in the 1990s, and the discovery of beers with rich, full flavour. Returning to Boston, the brewery released their first beer in 1998 and has quietly expanded in the past twenty years. In 2017, the company redesigned their brand from the bottom up and has come out steaming ever since. A dozen beers rock the slate, most of them themed around a particular fruit and the flavour power it delivers. The UFO White is based on classic Belgian spiced wheat beer stylings and ideal for the warm summer evening on the patio, awaiting the arrival of your hamburger. Or whatever you feel like scarfing down. Serves well at 8°C and can cellar for up to a year.

How it looks

Pours a beautiful, toasty golden colour with cloudy body and light carbonation. A thin ring of bubbles around the glass is the only evidence of a head.

How it smells

The aroma of orange peel - which is prominently mentioned by the brewer - comes out strong, but with a far sweeter tone than the peel would normally deliver. The wheat malt and spiciness hides under it though if you sniff diligently.

How it tastes

The orange takes the backseat and the expected power of the wheat makes itself known on the palate right away. The fruit is subtle and lean, and you’ll get more of the zest. The coriander rides underneath these two powerful flavours. The whole taste experience hits and starts to fade off pretty quickly. Finishes slightly dry and with a touch of orange left behind.

Recommended food pairing

As mentioned earlier this is a perfect BBQ and patio beer, so get into the classics - a hamburger with the bacon and cheddar on it or perhaps some ribs.
