Introduction

Since 2004 Les Trois Mousquetaires has been running counter to the brewing trends in Quebec, producing high quality craft beers with elegance and bold finish. Early in their brewing timeline, LTM shook up Quebec’s brewing scene by combining German techniques with the prevailing Eastern Canadian craft scene. Their beers gained complexity and their brand gained support. Now they deliver 15 brews in their Regular, Signature and Cuvee series. But a new series has emerged - Hors - which gives us a limited run of styles receiving less attention in the east. The newest of these is Tangerine, a fruit infused sour ale. IPA Blanche follows the style of the Eastern IPA, leaning toward an herbal hop profile combined with fresh tropical fruit. It uses a locally sourced malt, to give it a unique flavour found nowhere else in the craft world. Serves well at 6°C and should be enjoyed right away.

How it looks

Pours a pale yellow colour with a murky body and medium carbonation. Very little head out of the can, leaving behind a small ring of bubbles.

How it smells

Quite citrusy, both the flesh and zest, but most of what you’ll be smelling is the funky yeast of this beer. It comes across as wet straw, leather, and other barnyard aromas that mix together.

How it tastes

A very delicate flavour compared to what the nose was giving away. Bright, sweet, and citrus forward, this almost comes off as a slightly funky lemonade at first. But once on the palate the yeast and other elements become stronger. There’s a base of grain malt that mixes well with the citrus, but it all remains delicate and feathers on the palate. Pleasantly sweet overall and finishes off slightly dry.

Throw together a BLT with crispy bacon and make sure your tomatoes are firm.
