Built around a foundation of family, Aslin Brewing strives to extend its bond of family and inclusion to their whole community. Aslin was created with the idea that being a local craft brewer was partly about producing delicious brews, but more so about reaching out to the community and forging a bond. Aslin isn’t out to make everybody an expert on craft beer, but they are giving everyone access to beer expertise - knowledge and tasty, frosty cans of beer. Through this commitment, Aslin is doing its part to shape American beer culture as one that includes everyone and provides them with the best beer that can be made with locally sourced ingredients and their own two hands. No Backsies is a wheat beer - a strong grain flavour along with clove and banana, brought out by the unique brewing of the style. Hefty on the palate and a filler, so sip and enjoy. Serves well at 10°C and can cellar for up to a year.
Pours a golden colour with amber tint, cloudy body, and low carbonation. Only a thin, sticky ring of bubbles around the rim.
Counter to the style, the nose on this beer is fairly laid back. Toasted grain comes on stronger than the sweeter banana notes, but they work well together.
The initial taste is mostly the grain but the banana shows up to the party with the intent to own it. The banana comes in on the slightly under-ripe, green notes at first, but the sweeter yellow banana tones open up as it warms on the tongue. There’s a hint of the green, herbal note that rides through the entire tasting experience, but it keeps the other flavours grounded. Smooth mouthfeel and a mellow finish.
This one can be tricky - something grilled and savoury to complement.
