Profile

Pocock Brewing Company is a family run craft-beer brewery in Santa Clarita, California. Started in 2013, Pocock has seen a slow but steady rise in popularity, eventually breaking out of the local scene and making itself known on the national craft level. With over 30 beers available from Pocock - some seasonally available and some full-timers - nearly every style is covered. But where they cover a style, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a standard issue beer. Their selection includes banana cream pie beers, razor-sharp IPAs, Milk Stouts, and fruit-infused ales. Their taproom is available to pull a fresh pint for your sampling, and most of their beers are available as a six to take home. The Rooster Pith is a hoppy IPA with an easy drinking character. Well-balanced and slightly sweet, this is an IPA for the light-hearted hop consumer. Serves well at 8°C and should be enjoyed promptly.

Look

Pours a dark honey colour with a murky body and light carbonation. A frothy head of bubbly foam out of the can quickly dissipate to nothing at all.

Smell

Strong hoppy aroma upfront along with a muddle tropical fruit aroma. A warm, caramel malty aroma comes up to hold everything in place.

Taste

An excellent balance of piney hops and juicy fruit flavour - still quite muddled, so no one tropical fruit really comes to the surface, but it keeps the hops in check. The sweeter malt flavour rides along the bottom of the taste, keeping the foundation of the beer stable. The taste lasts a long time, riding out the hops, eventually fading to a slightly dry finish and sweet aftertaste.

Pairing

Classic IPA style but with a slightly sweeter flavour - something spicy and from the shellfish part of the spectrum would work well.
