Introduction
From a team of home brewers that longed to brew on a larger scale, AleSmith Brewing Co. seeks to keep the experimental nature of their home brewed small batches, while paying homage to the great European classic styles of beer! To honour their community, AleSmith started a baseball museum for the batting legend, and late friend, Tony Gwynn. As a longtime friend of the brewery, and a 20-year veteran of the San Diego Padres, AleSmith has a unique stadium theme for their tasting room to pay homage to their hometown hero. AleSmith boasts the largest tap room in San Diego's burgeoning craft beer scene of 155 competing local breweries. Holding over 25 prestigious awards from the Great American Beer Festival, as well as 5 gold medals from the World Beer Cup, trust AleSmith to deliver an example of the traditional IPA style to your palate! How it looks
Pours a lovely hazy golden amber, with reflections of orange running through. The head is a creamy, lasting off-white.
How it smells
This classic West Coast IPA is a heavy hitter in the hops! Starting out with lots of grapefruit zest, the nose is supported by a fresh and bright tropical fruit cocktail! Juicy pineapple shows up at the end, and finishes on a resinous bitterness.
How it tastes
Our tongue follows our nose here! The citrus hangs on with grapefruit, and lemon zest that gives way to passionfruit, papaya, and pineapple, as well as some piney hops, and a well-balanced malt backbone. The light bready malt character and low alcohol warming help to balance the hop aroma and flavours, and creates an incredibly flavourful and well-balanced IPA! Texture offers smooth and fairly firm body with peppy fizz, and our beer finishes on a some hop bitterness and a dry finish.
