Each year, Deschutes brews a barrel-aged version of their Black Butte Porter. Every year the expression is a little different but always delicious and exciting. The brewers are able to dabble in flavour combinations that you wouldn't normally see such as chilies, cranberries and other unique tastes! The 28th Anniversary edition has a balanced palate of chocolate, vanilla and earthiness to round the combination out. This beer sees 12 months in a 50/50 combo bourbon and scotch barrels. Drink now or cellar for a few years to allow the flavours to really develop.
Deschutes has posted on their website an awesome recipe for Elk Meatballs what would be a stellar pairing! There also a recipe for Peanut Butter Pie that would blow the socks off your guests!
