Please note that this beer has a BBD of February 2017. We diligently taste our beers to ensure top-quality, and this brew has tonnes of life left in it. We stand behind this beer being drinkable for several more months, if not longer. “From the darkness I watch you. All of you, all of your lives, with a thousand eyes, and one.” Who or what is the three-eyed raven? The three-eyed raven is a recurring character in the first, third, fourth and sixth seasons of Game of Thrones. Under the guise of the three- eyed-raven, he appears in Bran Stark’s vision-dreams, following his fall and injury and prompting his quest beyond the Wall and guiding him to the cave in which his real human body resides.
Pours a deep, dark brown with a tenacious, light tan head and lot’s of gorgeous lacing.
Lots of yeasty esters on the nose with some apple and pear notes, finishing with pepper and spice.
A malty body with a hint of sweetness and fruity flavours of apple, pear, prune and fig with a slight hint of banana. Candy sugar comes through mid-palate with a bready backbone, some dark fruit and a slight tang and spice with herbal hops. A medium-bodied beer with gentle effervescence and a dry finish with lingering spice, herbal hops and Belgian yeast The Brewery Ommegang has produced a well-balanced beer that walks the line between sweet and bitter, with a bit of earthiness thrown in.
This beer pairs perfectly with a big ‘ole smoked turkey leg as it complements the malt and effervescence of the beer. And eating a turkey leg seems rather appro- priate with a Game of Thrones beer.
